Why I love flat lays

When I was first dabbling in photography one of our exercises to learn about the rule of thirds etc. was to create some flat lays. I loved it!

I've gotten away from it lately and one of my goals for this fall is to set aside some time to putter and faff and style some flat lays. They are so fun to do with almost any subject matter. I love them for flowers but you can have fun with anything in a flay lay.

I encourage anyone that enjoys photography as a hobby to give flat lays a try. I find that I get great results from my iphone but I also enjoy using my Olympus Pen epl7.
