My back porch laundry room

My sweet little laundry area is simply the back porch in our century old home that has been cleverly made into usable space. The previous owners did such a fine job sourcing charming pieces for this tiny space. The country style cabinet was built to house a vintage enamel sink. The light fixture was sourced from an old warehouse.

When we moved into the house we added some rustic shelves and hung our old french fruit drying rack that we bought in an auction in England in 2001 and have carted around ever since. Add a funky little antique birdcage bought from an auction and it starts to have great character.
I use the shelves to hold all of my laundry supplies as well as my flower vases. The sink is very handy to soak garments or if I have some messy flower preparation to do.

Enjoy this little video of the space. (tip - it looks much better and fills the screen on your cell phone.)

When we first moved into this house we had two dogs and they always slept in kennels at night. We had some custom built wooden kennels put into the space by the dryer and I have many fond memories of tucking our miniature bull terrier, Louis and our Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Dude to bed each night in their bunk bed kennels.

Now down to one old dog, we took out the kennels and replaced them with industrial shelving. We got very lucky to find an assortment of vintage crates to put on the shelves to hold our laundry/utility room bits and pieces. My cousin in England sent us the blackboard/key keeper as a gift (with our surname on it yet!).
