Deck the halls for Christmas

I love decorating my home for Christmas. My Mum used to take great pride and put a lot of effort into making our apartment in Montreal look amazing over Christmas and I have tried to carry on that tradition in my own home, starting with my first Christmas in my own little apartment at the age of 21.

I like to rely on my collected and vintage ornaments mixed with natural elements such as greenery and flowers.

Look at the difference the dried orange slices made for this wreath.

I’m not a crafter but…

It made a cute Christmas card.

I love to decorate our mantels. I start by layering with a faux evergreen garland with lights being laid over the garland. Next, I add my statement pieces. Finally, I embellish by adding more layers such as berries, twigs, delicate garlands, bells, baubles etc. The last thing I add are small containers of flowers, usually roses.

I usually carry my mantel theme over to my sideboards, coffee table and other surface areas. I don’t overdo it but I don’t underdo it either. I am conscious of the fact that if I get very elaborate I still need to take it down and/or put it all away after Christmas, when I am itching to get into the garden.

I find it a challenge to decorate for the “day” as well as the “night”. Everything looks better at night.

And the magic of the tree!

And the presents, all finally wrapped and looking beautiful.

Wishing you all a very happy holiday season. xox
