London - Day Seven - Chelsea Physic Garden, Kensington Palace, Afternoon tea, Portobello Road and more...

Here we are at day 7, coming off of two incredible days, between our dining experiences and our two nights of West End entertainment. This day started with a gorgeous walk along the Chelsea Embankment from Pimlico to the Chelsea Physic Garden.

The Chelsea Physic Garden has occupied four acres of land on the edge of the Thames since it was first established by the Apothecaries’ Garden in London in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries.

After a lovely time at the Chelsea Physic Garden we decided to head towards Kensington Gardens, a sizeable walk. That being said, as with every long walk in London, it allowed us to see so much more of the city. We never missed a thing.

We walked through beautiful neighbourhoods and found ourselves looking for refreshment and needing a bathroom break at a tiny boutique hotel called The Gore. It had a very warm and lush interior. We learned that the hotel is a favourite of celebrities and has been from the times of Queen Victoria, also once a guest there. The Rolling Stones famously held the launch of their album Beggar’s Banquet in the hotel in 1968.

After a brief rest at The Gore we walked on to Kensington Gardens. We did a tour of Kensington Palace and were able to acquire a lovely table for afternoon tea, outside on the terrace overlooking the memorial gardens for Diana, Princess of Wales. Even in the first week of October the garden was beautiful.

We hopped in a cab and headed to Portobello Road. It was getting late so the street stalls were packed up but it was a fun and vibrant area. With more time we would have spent hours and hours poking around. Next time!

We did find a cute pub for a drink in Notting Hill before we headed back to Chelsea. We have good luck in Chelsea finding places to eat. We chose Rabbit on Kings Road and it was the best decision! I highly recommend this farm-to-table restaurant. The service was unmatched and the food was perfection. Add a British white wine and the experience was sheer perfection.

London, why are you so perfect!? Our hourglass is running out xx
