My mid summer garden.

I can feel summer peaking as I write this post. We are heading into late August. That’s the time my dahlias finally start to bloom and my cosmos and zinnias in the cutting garden are still going strong. Even my sweet peas are holding their own. It has been a hot, dry summer here on southern Vancouver Island which has had a pleasant effect on the garden. Enjoy these images xo (for better viewing, click on the individual image to enlarge it)

In no particular order, here are the plants that have given us oodles of pleasure this season. Stipa gigantea, various hydrangea varieties, especially the Limelight series, nepeta, California poppies, larkspur, so many different salvias, lavender, phlox, crocosmia, roses, coneflowers, lupins, many types of fuschia, globe thistle, bee balm, allium, astrantia, veronicastrum, zinnias, cosmos and various ferns and hostas in the more shady spots.

Gracie loves to survey my work.
